Over the last few years we have migrated quite a few Business Catalyst websites to a custom solution. The reasons for the move in most instances was due to a CRM database of contacts, orders and form submissions becoming increasingly unmanageable for the site admins. As the number of orders and customers increases inside the Business Catalyst CRM, some tasks, such as searching for customers, looking up orders, sorting and reporting become very time consuming and lead to a lot of errors.
Other reasons for moving the sites away from Business Catalyst onto a custom solution were mainly due to a feature limitations and a lack of customisation. Some sites require a splitting of content by user type or an IP address, rich member zones where logged in members can perform certain tasks like managing their recurring and scheduled orders, download reports and PDF files from a database generated content and quite a few other things which can not be implemented in off the shelf solutions.
